The Harman Peach Legacy
Both of my Great Grandfathers were in the Peach business, starting in the 1920’s. My Great Grandfather on my fathers’ side, Patt Claude Harman Sr. started his orchard in Candor, NC 1924. My maternal Great Grandfather Earnest Letlo Blake, managed a large Peach Farm in the Candor area. This Farm was owned by the Caggiano family from New Jersey. In those days, Candor NC was considered the Peach Capital of the Southeast. There was a large train stop there & both families shipped a lot of peaches.
In the 80s and 90s when tobacco phased out, we started to grow strawberries and blueberries. We now supply those along with our peaches.
Today, Candor is still known as the Peach Capital of NC. In July the NC Peach Festival is held there every year as well as the NC Peach Queen being selected from the area. We are on the fourth generation of Harman’s providing Fresh Peaches. We have several farms & roadside stands in the area which are listed below. Thank you for your continued loyalty to Harman Peaches.
